If you have anyone interested in attending this training program I would ask that you direct these individuals to the  FAQ on this site which will answer most if not all of the questions pertaining to this training program.  On our website is the new three (3) page application that needs to be filled out this year.  The MPTC has created a new application for all training program starting this September, which includes full time officers as well.

If anyone has any questions after reviewing our website, I am always available, either on the telephone and/or internet.

• The MCJTC has increased the hours to a total of 242.
• Correspondingly, the fee for the new Academy is $1100 ( this includes the required textbooks).
• The new curriculum includes CPR and FIRST RESPONDER. 

SECTION 2.  Section 31 of chapter 272 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2008 Official Edition, is hereby amended by striking out, in lines 40 to 43, inclusive, the definition of “Matter” and inserting in place thereof the following definition:-

“Matter”, any handwritten or printed material, visual representation, live performance or sound recording including, but not limited to, books, magazines, motion picture films, pamphlets, phonographic records, pictures, photographs, figures, statues, plays, dances, or any electronic communication including, but not limited to, electronic mail, instant messages, text messages, and any other communication created by means of use of the Internet or wireless network, whether by computer, telephone, or any other device or by any transfer of signs, signals, writing, images, sounds, data, or intelligence of any nature transmitted in whole or in part by a wire, radio, electromagnetic, photo-electronic or photo-optical system.

SECTION 3.  The definition of “visual material” in said section 31 of said chapter 272, as so appearing, is hereby amended, by inserting after the word “computer”, the following words:- , telephone or any other device capable of electronic data storage or transmission.

1. The equipment list posted on the MPTC website is incomplete.  I will be distributing an updated list soon.
2. Departments will need to provide their S.O. with a police vehicle for EVOC Training (early April)
3. All Student Officers must have a license to carry to enable them to transport their weapon to the range for Firewarms Training (early April).  Otherwise, a member of the hiring/sponsoring agency will be required to transport the weapon to the range each day of training.

This exclusion effectively makes these offenses criminal in nature: therefore officers may once again arrest for operators found operating after suspension, first offense.

Also the bicycle law changes were postponed until 2011.

Chiefs should have received an email from the Mass Chiefs with a PDF attachment from the  Court.

To facilitate departments’ use of the system, MPTC has scheduled training sessions across the state in conjunction with MSP.  Each department must designate one or two “Registrars”, a representative who will be trained in how to add officers, gather training reports and maintain the system for their department.  It involves approximately two hours of training and includes how to access the MPTC courses. If your department has previously used the MSP On-line training, log-on to the system is handled in the same manner, but you may want to attend one of the training sessions as a refresher. To sign up for one of these trainings, please email MPTC-elearning@massmail.state.ma.us.

 I would ask that you take a few minutes to read these parking instructions for officers attending MPTC classes at STCC and to make your officers aware of them.  Please remind your officers that strict adherence to these regulations is required as a condition of being granted permission to park on campus.

-          All officers attending MPTC Programs should enter the STCC campus via the main gate (Federal Street)

-          Parking is restricted to the spaces in Lot "C" – adjacent to State Street

-          Parking is further restricted to the spaces directly adjacent to the black wrought iron fence along State Street

-          Parking in the row parallel to the east-west travel lane is prohibited.  This row is reserved parking for STCC employees and those affiliated with the campus day-care center

-          Parking in the four spaces directly across from Building 14 is reserved for Faculty / Staff parking (these spaces are marked as such)

 The administration has asked for our cooperation in adhering to these regulations.  Officers will be reminded of these rules at the outset of the training week (Tuesday morning) and given an opportunity to move any vehicles that are in violation of these regulations.  After a reasonable period of time, violators will be ticketed and towed if appropriate.
