WESTERN MASSACHUSETTS POLICE MEMORIAL
On October 1, 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed into Law Public Law Number 87-726, designating May 15th National Police Memorial Day.
The Western Massachusetts Police Memorial was erected to honor those Officers from Western Mass who have fallen in the line of duty.
The Memorial was constructed on the grounds of the Former Police Academy at Agawam. Upon relocating the Academy to it's present location at Springfield Technical Community College, the Memorial was disassembled and is currently in storage, awaiting re-construction at the new location.
Each Year on Police Memorial Day members of the Western Mass Chiefs of Police Association, other area Police officers, family members, friends and supporters, gather to honor those who gave up their lives while serving the public.
This year the Police Memorial Day Services will be held on Wednesday, May 14, 2008, 10 AM, at STCC.
